Stuck rebuilding workspace

Postby Guest » Sat Feb 03, 2007 2:51 am

Hi.
I was able to install the Apollo plug-in for Eclipse.
It seems to reverse engineer the 'package' correctly,
however if I add a new class to the diagram or change the
code for an existing class it goes off to rebuild the workspace and never comes back.

See attached pic. I have to kill the process.
I'm running Eclipse 3.2.1 on Linux.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Olaf

Hi,

it seems that you run into a deadlock situation. Have started Apollo again and tried out to create a new element?
Another option you can try is to wait until the building process was completed and then create some new element. This should work.

Kind regards,
Stefan

I am having the same issue. I am working within a very simple test project (containing only one class) and have been sitting here for 20 min waiting for the building workspace operation to complete.

- Memory: 2G
- eclipse.ini arguments: -vmargs-Xms40m-Xmx512m
- java version: 1.5.0_06 (bundled with sun app server)
- eclipse version: 3.2
- Windows version: Vista Ultimate (I really hope this isn't the issue)

Setting -XX:MaxPermSize caused the vm to not create.

Diagrams come up fine, reverse eng works fine. When I attempt to add any element to the diagram it goes into this blackhole. Attempting to cancel the operation has no effect. I have killed the Eclipse process a couple of times and restarted eclipse with no effect.

Waiting for the build to complete (if it ever does) is not really feasible if it takes this long.

Otherwise I so far like the program and would like to use it. I have been running Poseidon CE for a few months but would much prefer the integration into Eclipse Apollo provides.

Followup to my previous post.

- Tried restarting Windows
- Set compatibility mode to WinXP SP2 and turned off visual styles.

I realize Vista is probably unsupported but I really don't want to roll back to XP. (Vista is really pretty :) )

Hopefully final follow-up.

Installed JDK 6. Seems to have worked, everything builds properly and timely. Getting some out of memory errors now, am not sure if it is related to apollo.

Re-enabled all Vista functionality (i.e. turned off XP compatibility, etc). Everything still works and it doesn't turn off the Aero interface.

I look forward to using the tool...

Robert

Have tried also windows 7 and I think I have problems with it and it's not supported either, I think. Any help on windows 7? Maybe I'll have my win XP back.
