Exception's subclass on class diagram

Postby daigu » Wed Jan 22, 2003 3:21 am

On class diagram chart, I make class methods with exception. but java.io.*Exception is not on list.
Can I use exceptions of several packages?

Hi,

you may only select those Exceptions that are either

a) already present in the default Project, or
b) those that you have defined yourself, or
c) those that you have imported, for example by importing the java.io-source-files via "java-source-import"

In your case, c) will be the best solution.

Best regards

I tried c), and got result to expect.
I can't find this method at User Guide and FAQ. Wmmmm...

Thank you!

I am not able to define my own exceptions. How do I go about doing this? What I would like to do is to define my own exception types, for instance using classes. Is this possible. I do not want to use the java exceptions since my project is supposed to be platform independent.

Thanx in advance

Currently, all classes that have a name ending in "Exception" are displayed as possible types of an exception. Furthermore, all subclasses of a class that has a name ending in "Exception" are also shown. So you can create a parent class for all your exceptions, call it "Exception", and create a number of your own exception classes, call them anything you like, and make them subclasses of "Exception".

I just wonder why it is not possible to give a class the stereotype <<exception>> and have it show up in the list. ... Wait a second. ... OK, it will be possible in Poseidon 2.2.1.

You can use exception on other packages. You can either use your own exception/self define or import java.io.
