How many diagrams has the UML?

Postby cubas » Fri Aug 26, 2005 1:17 pm

Hello,

I´m a little confused about the number of diagrams which the UML has. I though they are 9:

4 structur diagrams
- class
- object
- deployment
- component

and 5 dinamic diagrams
- use case
- state chart
- activity
- sequence
- collaboration

but sometimes you can read about 12 or more diagrams:
timing diagram, node diagram, packages diagram, overview diagram...

Can somebody explain me why these differences?

Best regards,
cubas

Those nine diagrams are part of UML 1.x.
These diagrams have been enhanced in UML version 2.0,
and some diagram have been added:
Interaction Overview
Timing
Composite Structure

The "Package diagram" is just a class diagram that shows exactly the contents of a certain package.
