WinXP Jdk6_21 Install Crash

Postby banzeletti » Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:43 am

PoseidonCE 8.0 installer fails to install with jdk6_21 with the message:
"The registry refers to a non-existent JRE or the JRE is corrupt".
I uninstalled and reinstalled the JDK/JRE. All other programs do NOT complain. When I type "java -version" in a cmd shell, I get the right answer. PATH is ok, JDK_HOME is ok, JAVA_HOME is ok. Maybe this is the same bug as in the Eclipse Helios distro, where they check for a "Sun" as the jvm vendor (which has been changed to "Oracle" now)...
Any help welcome
Bernhard

solved: "Run as..." is important

ok, I reinstalled windows and reinstalled the jdk. In consequence, all I had to do was to start the installer with the "Run as..." option and TICK OFF THE CHECKBOX (saying "Programme und Dateien vor nicht autorisiertem Zugriff schützen" what may translate into "Protect programs and files from unauthorized access"). After this it turned out to install.

I'm have having the same issue but I'm not willing to re-install windows to try out version 8. Any other ideas for this issue? I went and deleted all Poseidon references out of the registry that I could find and deleted the program.

Thanks.
